A Master Bedroom & Bath Get Pretty in Pink

I get a little attached to all of our design projects, but this one is nearest and dearest to my heart — and it has nothing to do with the home. Inside are two of the sweetest humans this planet has to offer.

The wife of the couple was born with cerebral palsy, but you wouldn’t know it if you heard how they live their lives. They stay active and engaged. They’re lively and energetic.

When I saw the two of them together, it filled my heart. Her husband is like her angel, and they’re gliding through life with such authentic sweetness and love.

They called us in to help redesign their bathroom and make it more accessible, and I just knew we had to give them something special…

Before & After: Master Bathroom

before

The initial bathroom felt dark, had a single vanity, and the tub was inaccessible. In other words… not the best space for our clients.

They were fully on board for giving the space some brightness, elegance, and free movement, and they gave us the free reign to make it happen!

So. much. better!

Mm, those marble countertops are divine. And do you spy hardwood floors? …because they’re not! These are the latest and greatest in flooring, completely waterproof and absolutely perfect for an accessible bath.

We also created a stylish sitting area where our client can get ready in the mornings or before a couple’s night out.

The shower is easily accessible, but there’s no reason it needs to be plain. These honeycomb mosaic tiles have the look of Carrara marble but are crafted from a wonderful Italian porcelain supplied by Arizona Tile.  Another secret revealed!

Designer Insight: The quality of Arizona Tile’s products is top notch, and we routinely source products from them — because we trust they’ll last in our clients’ homes!

The bedroom didn’t require any structural changes, but it certainly needed some style…

Our clients love pink, so we embraced it! To keep these rosy hues from feeling overly lofty, we grounded the room with darker colors here and there — custom curtain rods from Canadian Drapery Hardware, the bed frame, the art, and even some darker brushed brass furnishings. (the drapery hardware is custom made by Canadian Drapery   Canadian Drapery Hardware Ltd.

We also created this cozy yet elegant reading nook in the bedroom. The lamp-and-mirror design can throw light across the room or be dimmed for quieter moments. The perfect place to relax and enjoy. 🙂

Our clients are so happy with their new and improved space, but honestly, we feel like the lucky ones! To play even a small role in their happily ever after is a gift.

We wish them nothing but full days & happy memories to come!

Xoxo,
